An announcement

As of the start of 2013, I will stop recording as We Will Be Content and start releasing material as:

I’ve grown tired of the We Will Be Content name and realized that it’s not very eye-catching or appealing. I doubt I’d want to listen to an artist named We Will Be Content if it wasn’t me.

The name Aroostook came from the county I live in: Aroostook County, Maine. It’s the largest county east of the Mississippi River and more importantly, my home. Visually, I think the name looks great, especially the double O’s. Maybe it’s because of my familiarity with the word, but I love how it sounds, too.

I’m also changing my name so I can have a fresh start. My first two albums were mixed and mastered poorly (not at all) and they don’t sound great. I recently downloaded and am learning how to use Logic Pro, so I’ll have better control over how my music sounds. I may go back and remaster my “Before” album as well because I think it could really benefit from a better mix.

The sound of Aroostook will be a natural progression from that of We Will Be Content; a higher quality product as I better learn how to make and mix music. The music previews I have already given are still indicative of my future music releases (this and this).

I will transfer this site over to a new domain at aroostookmusic.tumblr.com (of which you can see a preview now) on January 1, 2013 and will change the name on Facebook, Bandcamp, etc. I’ll keep this domain as a redirect to the new site. I made a new last.fm artist page for Aroostook as well.

Thanks for sticking with me and I hope you hang around to see what I got coming up next.

If you haven’t heard my music yet, check it out on Bandcamp.

Also, my mum had a baby girl this morning, so that’s pretty cool.

I’ve been working on new music, but I’ve also been coming up with album covers. Here are a few that I’m not going to use but are kinda cool.

If any band wants to use one of these, get at me and we’ll work something out.

Also, a reminder that you can get my music for free from my bandcamp.

NEW MUSIC: Here’s a remix I made of “Ragnarök,” a song by Pat Savage and my cousin Jarryd, collectively known as December’s Bear.

update 08-20
As evidenced by the picture, I made a page for WWBC on the Maine Music Wiki, so that’s something.
As for my next album, it’s still in its infancy, but work on it has been going swimmingly. I’ve been working on the same set of songs I’ve been, except for a new collaboration with my cousin Jarryd. The whole thing oughta be out in the first half of 2013. If you haven’t already, check out my other music and thanks for being here.

NEW SHIRT
New design I made based on an old photo of me, my brother and my father in the pool. I think it looks good on yellow, but it’s cheaper to get on white, so use discretion when buying.

I GOT SHIRTS

Most official-like bands and artists have their own merch, so I figured I’d pose as a big shot and offer you guys some shirts as well, even though only about 5 people even listen to this stuff. I’ll probably make more designs as they come to me. Click the merch link on my page to see what I got, please and thanks.

drossignol10:

Updated the theme for my We Will Be Content tumblr page, so now it looks more band-y. I think it’s perty good, huh? Check out the page and let me know what you think about both the layout and the music, please and thanks and please.

update 06-21: new music

Hey all. Like I said a couple weeks ago, I’ll have an ambient mashup album out by the end of the month. It’s already done, had 5 or 6 songs and I didn’t spend much time on any of them. Let’s call it an EP, and let’s make the release date June 26.

Secondly, I’ve been on a good wave of creativity lately and have two good songs I’m working on right now that are near their final forms. They’re more structured and post-rock-like than anything I’ve done so far. It’s possible/likely there’ll be a new album out by around the end of the year or extremely early 2013 that’ll be more relatable to post-rock fans and less so to ambient fans.

And check out the song “Oscillation” by The Men because I think it’s super duper.

“Before” - *out now*

Tracklist:

  1. Power
  2. Before
  3. Sugar
  4. After
  5. Before (Part 3)

[bonus tracks]:

6. Sepia [bonus track]

7. Before (Part 2) [bonus track]

8. Murphy [bonus track]

Here it is, all. She clocks in at about 34 minutes (52 with the bonus tracks) and I’m proud of her.

Download the album from Bandcamp and check out the video for “Power” on YouTube or at the bottom of this post. If you like, also check out the album I made last year and the EP I put out in April, all of which are free (well, they’re pay what you want, so go ahead and enter $0 or give me a few bucks if you think I’ve earned it)

I’ll likely release another music video tomorrow or soon after, but in the meantime, check out the first track, “Power”:

Video for “Power,” the first song off the new album…

…which is still on pace for its May 15th release. Almost all the songs are complete, so things are looking good and I’m happy with everything.
