About
We Will Be Content started in March 2011, when I wondered to myself how hard it would be to make my own music, despite not knowing too much about how it works. I made an ambient track inspired by Brian Eno because that was the easiest place for me to start. I’m not saying ambient music is easy. Well, it’s easy to make ambient music, but it’s hard to make good ambient music.
I spent the next few months making more ambient music, usually starting with a sound I found/made on the internet or recorded myself and playing with it. I got about a half-hour of material together and released it as my first, self-titled album on August 1, 2011.
From there, I wanted to try my hand at songs that had more structure. I tried including drums, but I still wasn’t comfortable enough with them to make beats that made sense and progressed the song forward. I did manage one song with a percussion track that I’m actually pretty proud of. So I made songs that either slowly built up or sort of just happened without aim, living in its moment, I suppose. I got a few of those together and on May 15, 2012, released my second album, “Before”.
Thanks to hours of listening to Youth Lagoon’s debut album, I became much more comfortable with percussion and am in the process of making my third album, which could be categorized as post-rock, which was my real ambition all along. I imagine my third album will be out some time in the first half of 2013. Until then, check out what I already released and if you like it, pay what you want to download it.
Thanks for being here, have a good one.
