As of the start of 2013, I will stop recording as We Will Be Content and start releasing material as:

I’ve grown tired of the We Will Be Content name and realized that it’s not very eye-catching or appealing. I doubt I’d want to listen to an artist named We Will Be Content if it wasn’t me.
The name Aroostook came from the county I live in: Aroostook County, Maine. It’s the largest county east of the Mississippi River and more importantly, my home. Visually, I think the name looks great, especially the double O’s. Maybe it’s because of my familiarity with the word, but I love how it sounds, too.
I’m also changing my name so I can have a fresh start. My first two albums were mixed and mastered poorly (not at all) and they don’t sound great. I recently downloaded and am learning how to use Logic Pro, so I’ll have better control over how my music sounds. I may go back and remaster my “Before” album as well because I think it could really benefit from a better mix.
The sound of Aroostook will be a natural progression from that of We Will Be Content; a higher quality product as I better learn how to make and mix music. The music previews I have already given are still indicative of my future music releases (this and this).
I will transfer this site over to a new domain at aroostookmusic.tumblr.com (of which you can see a preview now) on January 1, 2013 and will change the name on Facebook, Bandcamp, etc. I’ll keep this domain as a redirect to the new site. I made a new last.fm artist page for Aroostook as well.
Thanks for sticking with me and I hope you hang around to see what I got coming up next.
If you haven’t heard my music yet, check it out on Bandcamp.
Also, my mum had a baby girl this morning, so that’s pretty cool.
I’ve been working on new music, but I’ve also been coming up with album covers. Here are a few that I’m not going to use but are kinda cool.
If any band wants to use one of these, get at me and we’ll work something out.
Also, a reminder that you can get my music for free from my bandcamp.
NEW MUSIC: Here’s a remix I made of “Ragnarök,” a song by Pat Savage and my cousin Jarryd, collectively known as December’s Bear.
Last night, I had the thrill of having a great phone conversation with Jared Bell, who is one half of Lymbyc Systym, one of my favorite bands. Their new album, “Symbolyst”, comes out September 18, so we talked about that, the writing and recording process behind all their albums, what “post-rock” really means and what Jared’s been listening to lately. Off the record, we also chatted a bit about This Will Destroy You’s album “Tunnel Blanket” and some other stuff, so that was fun. He seems like a cool dude: we chatted for a half hour and he was really personable.

update 08-20
As evidenced by the picture, I made a page for WWBC on the Maine Music Wiki, so that’s something.
As for my next album, it’s still in its infancy, but work on it has been going swimmingly. I’ve been working on the same set of songs I’ve been, except for a new collaboration with my cousin Jarryd. The whole thing oughta be out in the first half of 2013. If you haven’t already, check out my other music and thanks for being here.
This is surely one of the most beautiful things I’ve ever heard.
Some browsers don’t support Bandcamp’s embedded player, so click here if you’re having that problem.
“Murphy”I kinda forgot that I put this house song I made as a bonus track for “Before”, so I was just listening to it and remembered how much work I put into it and realized that it’s actually a little bit cool. It has some good bass in parts, it’s danceable and I sing in it! I use the term “sing” loosely: I sung the sorta-spoken vocal weakly and lathered it in effects and pitch changes (which sometimes sound like autotune which I kinda like here) to hide the fact that I’m not a singer at all. They sound pretty cool in the song, though.
I was big into Daft Punk’s “Alive 2007” album when I made this, so that influence is apparent (to me, anyway). I actually started trying to emulate LCD Soundsystem (which, along with the fact that I’m bad at naming songs, is why the track is named after James Murphy), but as it started to sound more and more like Daft Punk, I went with it.
So check her out and click through my tumblr page to see what else I’ve been up to. Thanks a have a good one.
Sweet song my cousin Jarryd made with a buddy of his. Very This Will Destroy You kinda stuff, quite good. Not just sharing because of the family connection, but because it’s a balls song.
Check out Jarryd’s other music at https://www.facebook.com/pages/Sounds-For-Ears/198084980215430.
It’s really good. Like his Facebook page so you can be informed about the development of his EP.
I was listening to “Parade” by Justice the other day and noticed it has the exact same beat at “We Will Rock You,” so about an hour or so ago, I decided to mash the songs up and here we are. I didn’t do much beyond laying the Queen vocal on the Justice song. I know Queen mashups have been done and done again, but it’d my first mashup and it’s the easiest place to start. The result is simple but effective, I think.
